In January 2017, Richmond got a new mayor, city council, AND school board. Now with a new group of elected officials, our job as residents to stay involved and hold them accountable. Of course, to do that, you need to know who the elected officials are and how to contact them. Brookland Park Post is pleased to present your 3rd and 6th district elected officials.

3rd District

City Councilman Chris Hilbert

Chris Hilbert has served as the third district city councilman for 12 years and has just been elected as City Council President. Chris is passionate about public safety as his father was a victim of homicide. He views public safety as one of the biggest challenges facing the 3rd district and across the city. Chris is married to Shelia Mandt and they have a cute mixed-breed female terrier named Scout. Fun fact about Chris… his first live concert was to see Ike and Tina Turner.

School Board Member Jeff Bourne

Jeff Bourne has been the 3rd District School Board representative for four years and was the only incumbent to be re-elected to the board. Previously, Jeff was the chair of the board in 2013 and 2016; however, this year the board elected 8th district representative Dawn Page. Jeff lives in Ginter Park with his wife Anedra with their kids. Fun facts about Jeff…. his dance moves are on point, his Twitter GIF game is strong, and he always has snazzy socks and shoes. Of note, Jeff has declared his intent to run for House of Delegates in a special election.

6th District

City Councilwoman Ellen Robertson

Ellen has been the 6th district City Council representative since 2003. She sees the priorities in the 6th district are education, public safety, and the economy.

School Board Member Felicia Cosby

Felicia is the only representative in the 3rd and 6th district who is new to her position; however, she is not new to city politics. Felicia used to be the spokeswoman for Richmond Public Schools. Fun fact about Felicia… she dropped a lawsuit against RPS Superintendent and several board members when she declared her intent to run for election.
